6 Days Old

These guys are getting cuter by the minute (but I might be biased!)   They're starting to look like real puppies, they're growing like crazy, and their spots are starting to show (check out Red Boy's belly spots below!)

Layla and pups (3 days old)

Dagger LOVES his babies!

We all get a big kick out of bringing puppies to see their Daddy ... Dagger licks them up one side and down the other.  (Layla still won't let him in the room with the pups, which is completely normal ... poor Dagger!)

First trip to the Vet 4/27/2011

Today the pups went down to Adobe Animal Hospital to have their dew claws removed.  Layla came along in the car so she wouldn't be frantic at home not knowing where her babies were, so then I had to bring Dagger along too, 'cause I knew he wouldn't be happy to be left home alone when everyone else got to GO!  They were QUITE a hit, as you can imagine -- I think every employee and every pet owner in the place had to take a peek inside the "box-o-puppies" ... some took pictures.   ;-)

We have puppies!!

Sunday, April 24, 2011, Layla & Dagger's puppies were born!  We have six beautiful, healthy pups -- 4 boys and 2 girls.   All are black-spotted (no livers) ... one boy and one girl have "patches" (the boy has a patch on his ear & head, and the girl has a "black-eye" patch on one eye and another on her tail.)

Here are some pictures:

All pups got to meet Daddy Dagger right away ...

Any day now!

Layla is due at any time now (between April 22 - April 26), and, boy, is she HUGE.

Looks like she must be pretty uncomfortable, but you'd never know it.  She's an EXTREMELY happy girl -- she's constantly wiggling & wagging and giving hugs & kisses, and she's even smiled at me several times!   (I've only seen her smile once before ... when she was pregnant with her second litter).   She's still running around the yard, chasing squirrels, etc., but she's a little slower than usual (Dagger can keep up with her now!)

No signs of labor yet ... I'll keep you posted!
